Key Features in the 2020 Lexus RX and RXL

September 26th, 2019 by

The Lexus RX was introduced to drivers over 20 years ago. It quickly became one of the best-selling luxury SUVs in America and a fan favorite for drivers looking for a luxury experience and interior space.

For the 2020 model year, Lexus introduced new technologies to its beloved crossover SUV, and also gave it a design refresh, including a new take on its signature grille, which now features hand-drawn angles based on an L-motif.

Let’s take a closer look at the 2020 Lexus RX.

The 2020 Lexus RX is available as a two-row SUV or a three-row SUV known as the 2020 Lexus RXL. Hybrid variants are also available — the RX Hybrid and the RXL Hybrid. Additionally, there is an available Lexus RX F Sport variant, which includes: updated Active Variable Suspension system, performance-tuned dampers, as well as Sport+ and custom drive modes.

Across models, two new wheel designs were introduced: an 18-inch wheel design and a 20-inch wheel design in the luxury grade. Additionally, an eco-friendly, synthetic leather NuLuxe option has been expanded across all trim levels in the Lexus RX and RXL lineup.

The 2020 Lexus RX features Lexus’ first Android Auto integration, which allows drivers to integrate the functionality of their smartphone and access: Google Assistant, Spotify, Pandora, WhatsApp, GoogleMaps, and more.

For iOS users, Apple CarPlay is also available, on which drivers can access their iPhone apps, receive driving directions, send and receive phone calls and text messages, as well as access Apple Music, Apple Maps, podcasts and audiobooks, and third party apps like Waze or Spotify.

Included with the purchase of a Lexus RX is a 3-year Lexus Enform Safety Connect subscription and a 10-year Enform Service Connect subscription, both of which can be accessed via the Lexus RX’s standard 8-in user-friendly touchscreen; a 12.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen is also available.

The Lexus RX features a new and improved dynamic voice command (DVC) and navigation. DVC now recognizes millions of more phrases than conventional Lexus systems, which ultimately results in greater accuracy.

All Lexus drivers who download the Lexus App will be able to remote start their car, contact their local dealer, and more. Drivers who invest in a Lexus App subscription will enjoy additional convenience benefits including Vehicle Health Reports, scheduled maintenance and vehicle health alerts.

Now standard across Lexus RX trims is Lexus advanced safety system, Lexus Safety System+ 2.0. Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 includes:

  • daytime bicyclist detection
  • low-light pedestrian detection
  • Road Sign Assist (displays certain road sign information in the instrument pane)
  • and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA).
